I thought that it was time to insert some humor in the series of some very serious blogs. This blog is about my husband who likes to play pranks, especially on me. This one in particular happens to be epic and continues to make me laugh.
At the time, we were living in the Seattle, Washington area. It was the middle of the week, and I was going out with a bunch of my girlfriends to dinner to celebrate one of their birthdays. We were having such a great dinner together that a few of us decided that we would go see a movie afterwards. Normally, I’m exactly the kind of person that likes to get to bed early on weekdays. However, we were talking about going to see the movie the Count of Monte Cristo and I really wanted to see it.
Anyway, the movie theater happened to be downstairs of the same complex as the restaurant, and since we had some time before the movie started, we decided to grab a coffee from Starbucks.
After the coffee, we went into the theater and began looking for the perfect seat. This wasn’t too difficult, as the theater was practically empty. However, as we got closer to finding a spot, we noticed this young couple in full “make out mode.” They were groping each other and making quite a scene. We all looked at each other and agreed that “There was no way we wanted to be behind these two!” We then moved to find a seat around the other side of the theater and a little bit closer to the front of the stage.
The movie was quite suspenseful and entertaining, especially with Jim Caviezel, as the main character. A few of us needed to use the restroom, although we kept getting sucked into the different scenes and didn’t want to miss any of it. The movie finally finished, and we went home.
I got home and went upstairs to our bedroom, and surprisingly, my husband was still awake. He had told me that he wanted to make sure that I got home safely. Sweet huh? I felt particularly loved right then. LOL!
Anyway, the next morning, my husband and I carpooled to the office, as we typically did during the week. As we got onto the freeway, he proceeded to tell me about a dream that he had last night. (Interestingly, my husband usually has very detailed and vivid dreams.) He told me that his dream started out with a woman being murdered by an innocent man who was wrongly accused. As my husband continued sharing with me the rest of his dream, I told him that it sounded very similar to the movie I saw the night before. I even said to him, “Are you sure you have not seen the Count of Monte Cristo movie? It has the exact storyline as in your dream.” A few minutes later he could not hold it in any longer and began giggling.
He proceeded to tell me that he was on the second floor of the mall where we were having dinner the night before. As we made our way to the theater for the movie, dressed in dark clothing and wearing a baseball cap, he followed us and saw which movie we bought tickets for. After we went in, he purchased a ticket for the same movie and waited for us to go in. He then went to sit a few rows behind us, and just before the movie ended, he quickly left the theater and made it home well before I did.
When I asked him why he went through such lengths to follow us while remaining incognito, he said that he wanted to see if we would be able to notice that someone was following us, but especially to see if he would get caught (Prankster!)
A few weeks later, the same friends and I, along with our husbands, were at some sort of gathering together. I overheard my husband telling the guys the story of what happened in the theater and all we heard was laughter coming from that room. His friends thought it was the funniest thing that he tricked us and got away with it!
